OtterQuest was created as a way to
increase ecological awareness and stewardship by exploring
otters and their habitats.
Over the years I have
been lucky
to have the opportunities see otters in the wild, meet
researchers, and to visit a number of facilities that have otters; in
the Interactions
pages I share some of those experiences and
others
experiences with otters also. I look forward to
hearing about some of your experiences with otters
too.
A big part of OtterQuest is the public information/ awareness
program: *OtterQuest web site *Research *Festivals *School
programs *Community Presentations *Activities
*Currently the web site is down for maintenance*
While you wait you can enjoy some of or otter videos at QuestX YouTube!
*MAINTENANCE, portions may be currently accessible through the following links [The web site has sections covering otter species worldwide (including distribution maps), the natural history of otters, current and historical otter research, otters in the news, personal interactions, interviews, video / multimedia, pic galleries, activities, events, resources and links, and even a few games too.]*
Danaan
Hi! My
name is Danaan. I am a biologist and anthropologist, currently working on my PhD in
Evolutionary Ecology. I do science/ecological education projects,
and enjoy a lot of just plain science! I enjoy way too many hobbies, have a
minor obsession with otters (and mustelids in general) and a near
inability to go more than about three weeks without making something. I have been
interested in the natural world as long as I can
remember, and
otters for just slightly less than that ; ) .
During my undergraduate years I had the opportunity to do a field study for a quarter in the Brazilian Amazon
(pic
to the left). The Amazon and it's people were diverse and friendly... and while I was there I got some good pics and vids of the
Amazon region and of the Giant Otter. Look for that
and other experiences in the Interactions section.
UPDATE: January 31, 2016, an old version of my web site has been put up while i update my new site. thank you for your patience!
